In the beginning it wasn't my intent to rank well for this phrase. I received a HitTail suggestion for a certain keyword phrase and created a page from that suggestion. [...] Not only do I show up as the 4th result in Google for this keyword phrase, but I've been in that position for months now. [...] There's tons of people talking about the end of the world on the Internet so I'm feeling pretty good about showing up on the first page. I will never attempt to claim the first position even though I could with some quality effort. If you check out the page you'll see why HitTail is so powerful!
But one day I noticed in my Hittail results a link that looked strange.

I took a look at my Hittail results this morning, I saw a few phrases people used which I ranked on page 3 and beyond for, -height weight chart- as an example and other terms I would never have thought of (I know that is one of the benefits of Hittail, identifying those terms to assist you in optimizing).

Perhaps check your site logs for unusual search terms just prior to their phone call. One of the reasons I love using hittail is that you can often see in real time what terms people found you for just prior to the link request / advertising request / seo help request / etc coming through.

The next thing for my blog is to see which articles were successful and try to create more like them. Don't know which were for you? Then immediately a goal could be to sign up for a hit tracking service. In my case, MyBlogLog and HitTail provide some good details. Checking HitTail, I see that the most searched for articles on my blog relate to Scrabulous and Facebook, while next down the list are articles relating to photography and AS/400 programming.

It is truly unbelievable. I use this service called HitTail which provides me every keyword and source or direct link that is clicked on to this blog. I was looking at my HitTail list this morning and I saw "Burned Out on MonaVie".

The recent post on HitTail got a hit from HitTail itself or to be more precise the HitTail blog Everybody Loves HitTail. What I find interesting is that the hit first came through blog.search.google.com and was on the first page. Now its no longer to be found, at least not on the first six pages and has been replaced by HitTail.typepad.com, at again the first page. This helped to ante up my Technorati authority again.
